Charles (Chuck) Kalmanek was Head of Research at AT&T Labs, where he led work to create advanced platforms, tools and services in the areas of large-scale service operations, cloud technology and services, and data management and analytics. Chuck's team developed data integration platforms and conducted analytic research driving customer segmentation, customer experience and network performance improvement, customer communications, and branding strategies. Chuck also led work to incubate new enterprise and consumer communication and information services.

Chuck held a number of leadership positions at AT&T, managing teams that developed real-time systems, working with global operations to create ground-breaking tools, and developing several innovative and award-winning applications. Chuck is highly regarded as a resource on technology strategy, and has met with dozens of CIO level leaders to discuss emerging enterprise needs.

Chuck is a master at working with business leaders and engineers to drive “out-of-the-box” thinking, and formulate technical strategies to increase revenue and operational efficiencies, and transform the way services are delivered. Chuck is an instrument-rated private pilot and avid cook.

Chuck has a B.S. degree from Cornell University in Applied and Engineering Physics, and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Columbia University and New York University, respectively. Chuck is an IEEE Fellow, and co-editor of Guide to Reliable Internet Services and Applications, published by Springer in 2010. He has over 50 issued U.S. patents.
